Brent Rubin was raised in the small Saskatchewan town of Weyburn. At a very young age he showed an interest in films and a desire to tell stories through this medium. It started with the use of his aunt's video camera, whenever they came to visit he would make his own music videos and short movies by using the footage captured over the long weekend. Brent worked at the local movie theatre while in high school which fed his filmmaking desires even more. He began to discover, working with the films in the projection room that he had a strong passion for putting the films together. This lead to his strong interest in editing. After high school he put his passions on hold and worked as a Sales Manager at a successful computer store. He gained a great knowledge of technology and customer service from this experience. For nearly 8 years he worked there until deciding that it was time to pursue his dreams of working in the film industry. Brent moved to Vancouver, BC and attended the Vancouver Film School
in October of 2005. Throughout the year he learned a great deal and had the opportunity to work as an editor, producer, first assistant director, art director, continuity supervisor, sound mixer and was fortunate enough to have his screenplay Insecure chosen as a student film project. He realizes the fortune in learning and working in all these various departments and finds it a great benefit for the future. While attending the school he met an amazing and talented group of people that helped build his desires and confidence in working in the film industry. He hopes to work with many of his past fellow classmates in the future as well as a whole new group of individuals finding their similar dreams. Brent is currently working on many different projects. Most recently he has been working as an Editor at ATV Productions. He has edited episodes of the television show The New Driver's Seat, and has assisted on other shows such as the Canadian Rally Championship and Wings Over Canada. Brent is also at hard at work on an independent feature film for Director Manmord Sidhu. Along with those projects he's working on numerous websites and other graphic design projects.
